tiffany blue cupcakes with choc seashells

ini repeat order dr mai. mai pernah order devil's food choc cake ngan cik ayu dulu. sure ramai tanya, nape plak cik ayu blh amek order mai time ramadhan nih.. katanya tutup kedai.. =) camni, cik ayu ada hutang ngan mai ni. last time masa hubby deliver cake kat mai, hubby takde change, so balance nye tu still tertunggak sampai skang. harapnye langsai la hutang tu ngan order ni (jgn takde change lg sudah.. hehe).

mai nak cupcakes with fondant deco kaler turqoise/ tiffany blue. mai nak ada seashells on the cupcakes with: "happy birthday my lurve" written on it.

since i don't have fondant seashells mould , dan masa jenjalan kat bakery supplies store hari tu cik ayu jumpa a nice seashells chocolate mould so ape kata i have it a try. this is also inspired by Sweetopia cupcakes recently=)

my first trial making chocolate. i used white chocolate and a little milk chocolate for the effect; just like Marion did =) i love the seahorse!

how to crystallize flowers

remember last time cik ayu pernah crytallize kan daisies. boleh tgk kat sini (ye ke daisy tuh?). hehe.. so here how you can crytallize your flowers. it's super easy!

Ingredients:

• One extra-large egg white
• Water
• Superfine sugar (store-bought or homemade - To make superfine sugar put white granulated sugar into a food processor and pulse until fine, usually 20-40 pulses will do. )
• Edible flowers

Steps:

1. Combine one extra-large egg white (at room temperature) with a few drops of water and beat lightly until the white shows a few bubbles.
2. Using a small paint brush, paint a thin layer of egg white onto both sides of a clean, dry petal.
3. Gently place the petal into a shallow bowl of superfine sugar to coat the bottom of the petal.
4. Sprinkle sugar on top to cover the top of the petal.
5. Gently shake off any excess sugar.
6. Lay the petal on waxed paper to dry. Let the flowers dry completely; they should be free of any moisture. This could take 8 to 36 hours.

wanna be amazed? just look how pretty these crystallized roses..

hj. azmil mustapha came today. i'm so impressed. envy? sgt!!

bila ditanya bagaimana perjalanan hijrah beliau. antara jawapan yg cik ayu ingat:

saya mulakan dengan sedikit2, yg mudah2, saya mula simpan janggut. itu sunnah, dapat pahala.. bgn tidur tak perlu shave guna gillette, dpt pahala lg.

masuk masjid dgn langkah kanan, masuk tandas dgn langkah kiri. sampai pernah sbb nak betulkan langkah masa masuk tandas (since masa tu kaki kanannya dah ter ke depan sket) saya jatuh. anak saya kata, "apa la abah ni, nak masuk tandas pon jatuh." yg penting istiqamah. buat berulang kali.

ustaz pahrol mohd juoi is the other speaker. cik ayu sgt suka cara ustaz pahrol berbicara. sgt relevan. pandai ber'metafora'. and because of that, i bought his book today. =)

alhamdulillah, arini selamat cik ayu menempuh exam.. lama dah tak mengadap buku.. rasa mcm otak ni dah tak mcm muda2 dulu.. liat sket skang nak menghapal.. hehe..

oo.. pasal tajuk di atas.. cerita nya begini.. skang jannah dah pandai baca doa makan, lepas baca dlm arabic dia akan baca translation dlm english. tp yg english ni cik ayu tak dpt tangkap sgt ape yg dibacanya kecuali ada satu phrase nih bunyi cam ni : 'pis totek as'.. puas gak memikir ape kebenda nye nih.. dan akhir nya hari ni cik ayu dpt figure out!

i just wanna share what i've found on Sweetopia today. sgt inspired utk buat mcm ni satu hari nanti. then use them for charity purposes. siapa nak jd co-author? sila angkat tangan! =)

Ramadhan ni cik ayu tutup kedai, so ada la masa nak share ilmu yg sedikit nih.. =) rasanya recently ada yg tanya mcm mana cik ayu cover mini cakes ngan fondant. cik ayu tak sempat la nak tunjuk by picture, step by step camne nak buat mcm yg cik ayu slalu buat dulu2.. tp ni ada satu video dari Lorraine McKay @ Extra Icing on the Cake! (bnyk yg cik ayu blaja dr Lorraine ni, cam roses fondant tu.. sumenye ilmu dari Lorraine.)

p/s: since Lorraine is using dummy cake, she applied water before covering the dummy cake. cik ayu slalu apply a thin layer of jem/ buttercream icing instead of water. lg satu cik ayu tak guna cake smoother since i don't have one =)

cik ayu seisi keluarga nak ucapkan selamat menyambut Ramadhan kepada semua umat islam di mana jua berada. semoga kesempatan ini kite gunakan sepenuhnya.

p/s: alhamdulillah, hari ni dpt cik ayu bertarawikh. tawakal bawak jannah. 2 rakaat pertama ok.. jannah hanya baring2 kat tepi, 2 rakaat seterusnya jannah kacau mama sbb susu dah habes, 4 rakaat seterusnya sampai witir, jannah tertido.. =)

(mungkin tak ramai yg tahu cik ayu ni tinggal ngan jannah berdua jek.. ya, hubby keje kat cyberjaya, cik ayu plak keje kat melaka. hubby balik on weekends jek.)

ini mini cakes untuk kawan niza, yg mini cakes nye kaler kuning tuh ;). theme: pink and purple. 6 pcs all together. this time i made a little different. i've designed three mini cakes in the mini cakes set, instead of a single design like usual.

ni update utk project yg pernah saya mention dulu.
ini hasilnya:

apa yg cik ayu buat ngan bunga ni? i crystallized it. cik ayu cuba sekuntum jek dulu. nak tgk camne.. and i think it turns out great! bunga ni dah dikeringkan selama seminggu, but the bloom and colour still remains. now this flower is ready to be used as cakes or cupcakes decoration!

tp cik ayu dok bayang kalau mini cake tu balut ngan fondant kaler putih pastu buat stripes kaler tiffany blue menegak memanjang ke bawah dah tu buat dotted border, mmg cun! lebih kurang mcm mini cakes kat bawah ni.

p/s: hehe.. apsal bunga tu dah bertukar kaler? paham2 jek la.. bunga yg dolu tu dah layu, so terpaksa pesan ngan hubby beli yg baru kat pasar =)

niza's mini cake and matching cookies =)

these are niza's engagement mini cakes. at first, niza nak exactly mcm mini cakes fida: yg kaler purple tu.. tp tetiba niza tukar fikiran, nak kaler kuning since her engagement theme is yellow. so here they are, yellow mini cakes!

niza jugak order cookies as her engagement favor. niza kata, tak kisah kaler ape pon. but being me, hehe.. cik ayu kan suka matching2 nih.. so i tried to come up ngan cookie design which matches her mini cakes. cik ayu guna kaler coklat dan kuning sama cam ribbon kat mini cakes niza.

so here are the cookies..
